| Finally a
place where you can shop, grab a cuppa and chill whilst the
kids play. BonVie is a “kids welcome” venue, so
you can drink your coffee while it’s still hot!
Now for the shopping sweetie: All under one roof; we have
a variety of fantastic shops for you to browse through including:
Nixz - Clothing and makeup consultancy (with other branches
at La Lucia and Hillcrest). Nicola Jaffer does fanominal makeovers
and colour-coding. Please make sure you book for makeovers
before you come. |
 |
 |
Kist - Leanne
Van Niekerk, Interior decorator, as opened her
new shop and its got the most amazing new ceramics,
magnets, carpets, lamps, lights, pots and so
much more!
Glory Days - Vintage furniture and other odds
and ends. We just have the good old fashioned
range of well... anything and everything.
Little People - Various range’s of kiddy’s
goodies from party themed decor to imported
linen and an absolutely lovely French range
of soft toys and other... as well as second
hand furniture and accessories.
Cafe’ - Great coffee, smorish cakes and
breakfasts are the bomb! For lunch, our fish
cakes and salad are a winner. Come and relax,
with or without the family, meet a mate, or
just come for a slice of... We are open sat
and sun and Nesta (our child-minder) will watch
the kids so you can actually eat your food when
it arrives! Wow, how’s that for novel.
Ok, so you got no kids... its ok... coz we have
reserved the front section for you guys, which
is quite and peaceful.
Florist - Watch this space...
So this is how we got started:
We (Wendy & Justine) sooo love a bargin,
but like reeellly “excited” love
it and we would hunt high and low for all kinds
of “ietsies”. Turns out that there
are a lot of people out there that feel the
same way as us, which started us on our open
days. Those took on a life of their own and
by Dec we were doing 2 open days a month so
we decided to take the leap and open a shop.
Now we have our new premises at 16 Bute Rd,
off Windemere Rd, and due to the fact that we
are open 7 days a week instead of 2 days a month,
our stock is changing almost on a daily basis.
Those who know us, always get here early or
check in on a regular basis as our prices are
very reasonable and R200 will get you a whole
bag of things... Have you ever!

Currently
on show at Fat Tuesday Gallery is “It's a fantasy
– New York Harry”. An exhibition of paintings
by Victoria Verbaan. Her art represents a fantasy world
of whimsy and colour. So it is not surprising that she has
turned her attention to the city of New York for inspiration
for her latest body of work. Using familiar iconic shapes
associated with the city; blended with images of pop culture
Verbaan has created works of pure fantasy. |
 |
 |
There have been some more changes
at Fat Tuesday. We started the year
by doubling our space and we have just added
to it again. Our shop, a renovated four-room
house is bursting at the seams with new
stock. Our emphasis on South African design-led
products is unchanged and we have a wide
selection of jewellery, lifestyle products,
clothing and gifts. Photography, ceramics
and paintings now all exist happily in an
atmosphere of casual nostalgia.
Trading: Weekdays 8.30am - 4.30pm / Saturdays

“Local
is Lekker” underpins an exhibition of work by South
African professional and student jewellers opening at Durban’s
Artisan Contemporary Gallery at 12 noon on Saturday 29 May.
Guest speaker is Marlene de Beer, lecturer in the Jewellery
Design programme at Durban University of Technology.
“This is our annual jewellery exhibition where we showcase
the creativity and craftsmanship of this country’s established
and emerging jewellers working in precious metals and found
objects”, said Artisan curator, Sue Greenberg. “These
found objects will typically embrace jewellery incorporating
a host of other man-made and natural materials. |
 |
 |
| Coinciding
with the FIFA World Cup, the exhibitors are
expected to draw inspiration from this landmark
event as well as other things South African
not only in the main jewellery exhibition but
also in the paintings, drawings and other multi-media
work on display. These exhibitors include Carol
Beckx, Margaret Burnard, Diane Sampson, Nicky
Chouvchouv to mention a few.
“Local is Lekker” runs through

Home and Organisation
Alignment is applied to the balancing of spaces, whether it
be domestic homes, commercial buildings or the land. The home/office
is an extension of one-self and reflects aspects of ourselves
going back to our early experiences, influencing our relationship
with our personal space, home space, the environment and the
cosmos. |
 |
 |
| THE BALANCING
PROCEDURE of the building is done on the building
plan and involves all the occupants of the home,
office or organisation. The client is first
taken through certain procedures to bring them
into alignment with their personal space (their
physical body) in preparation for alignment
with their home/work space. The building
is then assessed and balanced for geopathic
stress and electromagnetic radiation, as well
as any other negative influences that can impact
our health and happiness.

See below testimonial
from Grant Webster design director and owner of FHD
‘I understand that unseen energies can have detrimental
effects on people's health and also impact the quality of
our internal and external business relationships. So
I engaged the services of Christine Hardy as an Energy consultant
and healer to maximise the full potential of my business.
Christine worked from floor plans and on site in order to
establish the energy patterns and identify positive and negative
areas and influences.
Prior to moving into the new premises, Christine identified
problematic areas from the floor plan such as electrical sub
stations located under the building, along with Geopathic
stress which was caused by a black stream (organic waste)
in main sewerage pipes running under the building where our
offices are located. Christine was able to harmonise the energy
frequencies and make them more compatible with the body's
energy system. Individual members of staff were muscle tested
(a form of kinesiology) to assess the effectiveness of this
process.
I found Christine pleasant and professional and recommend
her for this work. We will be recommending Christine to our
clients, especially when they relocate to new offices as a
means of promoting harmony and growth, as this is part of
our holistic approach to office interior design, something
I believe in myself, and actively promote’. |
